Vigil of Love

Vigil of Love

Join us as we stand with the congregation of St. John's Lutheran Church in support of our Jewish community as they gather to worship one week after the horrifying shooting in Pittsburgh last week.

Who: All Persons of Peace and Love

What: Vigil of Love in support of our Jewish community

Where: Temple Emanuel, 1115 Mississippi Ave., Davenport, IA

When: Friday, Nov. 2, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Details: We will gather around Temple Emanuel in Davenport on Friday evening before and during their services to silently surround them with love.

No preaching. No prayers. No political signs. Just loving people surrounding our neighbors with love and care as they gather the week after tragedy.

Please ask those you invite to car pool and park on the streets around the Temple, so that we do not take up the spots of those worshiping.

Please dress warmly and bring a lawn chair if you have difficulty standing for long periods of time.

If you wish to bring a sign of love, bring a single flower. There will also be a limited number of crocheted hearts available to share.

Evanston, Illinois' Interfaith Community gathered at Beth Emet Synagogue on Monday (10/29/18) evening for a Service of Remembrance and Solidarity. Leaders of many of the community's religious institutions spoke and led us in prayer and song. Our Interfaith organization has unified us in so many ways and helps us to heal in times of loss. I am heartened to hear that you are joining together as well. God bless us, every one.
